I am thinking of those of you who take part in the
Advent service at Scargill today and wishing I could
be there sharing it with you.
I am thinking of those of you who take part in the
Advent service at Scargill today and wishing I could
be there sharing it with you.
I am keen to find Scargill Movement friends in the
S. Yorks. area, with a view to together playing our
part in speeding along the reopening of Scargill
so it can once more proclaim to all that ”His name shall
shall be there”! My email address is:
Peter Lewis – ex temp Scargill community and recent
pioneer in the Save Scargill campaign
Digging around I came across this photograph of the Scargill Community from around 1977..
The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed a new logo on the website.
There is a style guide to go with the logo which I’ve had a quick look at – the style guide includes most possible uses of the logo including a T-Shirt.
The website will change appearance slightly to fit in with the style guide

After having been a Scargill Partner for many years and fretting through the trauma of the past year, it was wonderful to go back to Scargill in June with several friends in tow.
We were so relieved to return to the place which has given us so much, that we decided it was time to put something back and throw our support wholeheartedly behind the new venture.
We have organised a small, unofficial Wigan Scargill Action Group and, last weekend, held our first fundraising event. It was a simple Peaches and Cream tea with cake stall and bring and buy stall. We made £436.40 in a very short space of time. (The cheque will be sent this week).
Our next event is coffee and lunch at my home in October. I am aware that these are only small parochial events but, if other devotees could arrange similar gatherings in their deaneries around the country, then think of the potential!!
I also have some volunteers who are willing to clean, sew etc., we just need to be told if and when we are needed.
I check the website most days so maybe it would be helpful to post what help, if any, is needed.
Thanking God for so many blessings.
It’s been a privilege to spend several short stays over the past few months at Scargill with brushes, brooms and the vast array of equipment Scargill has on offer for the avid cleaner-upper!!
Grime-busting has become a bit of a hobby!! But the location and the company make all the difference, and progress since April is mounting up. We’ve worked alongside former Community and enjoyed witnessing their delight on being re-united with colleagues, esp. at the Celebration in June …. it was like a family re-union. (But then it was, wasn’t it?!)
The present times are unique in that between the working times, there is an immense peace and quiet in the House, and an opportunity to FEEL and BE … the place is gently moving towards being living in and loved once more – and yes, God IS there in name and in presence.
We uphold in prayer all who come either to work or visit. We shall return in the autumn.
Just back from Newark, when I wore my Scargill 50 tee and made some contacts with ex-Community etc. How about a stall in 2010s market?
PS I’m completely useless at computing, so be gentle! JohnF
It was so good to be at the 50thAnniversary Celebration. I had the chance to meet several long lost friends and to catch up with their news. People have had such different experiences. I long that Scargill can be reborn once again. Its such a wonderful resource for the kingdom in the North of England. Hopefully, this huge amount of money can be raised. Both Jean and I will continue to pray for the Council and other workers now at Scargill.
The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed a few subtle changes to the blog.
I’ve added a MailPress plugin
Also a few CSS changes, most of which came after a software update.
I was there too for the Jubilee on the 20th, would love to have more on the Blog from those who could make it on the day for the 50th anniversary.
The actual anniversary date was this weekend – 27th, I was on the top of Mount Snowdon (in cloud, wet, no view) with a group of teenagers, and thought of Scargill. I hope to take them there one day soon!
