Anniversary Celebration

It was so good to be at the 50thAnniversary Celebration. I had the chance to meet several long lost friends and to catch up with their news. People have had such different experiences. I long that Scargill can be reborn once again. Its such a wonderful resource for the kingdom in the North of England. Hopefully, this huge amount of money can be raised. Both Jean and I will continue to pray for the Council and other workers now at Scargill.

About mark

I was on Scargill Community from 1982 to 1986 and was on various teams. Since then, my wife and I have returned to Scargill many times. In fact, we met at a Christmas houseparty in 1979. Recently, I have completed a Fine Arts degree at Teesside University.

I visited Scargill on a church youth holiday organised by the Rev Roland Seaman about 50 years ago, and have always been interested in returning. I got round to planning this eventually last year only to find that the house had closed. I have very fond memories of the place – pot holing on one day, walking to Grassington and back on another, many of us going down sick in the middle of the week, and the large I think Oak tree to the rear being struck down with lightning one stormy evening. Oh, and the pet jackdaw kept in an aviary. I am delighted the place has been saved. Does anyone else have similar memories?
