After having been a Scargill Partner for many years and fretting through the trauma of the past year, it was wonderful to go back to Scargill in June with several friends in tow.
We were so relieved to return to the place which has given us so much, that we decided it was time to put something back and throw our support wholeheartedly behind the new venture.
We have organised a small, unofficial Wigan Scargill Action Group and, last weekend, held our first fundraising event. It was a simple Peaches and Cream tea with cake stall and bring and buy stall. We made £436.40 in a very short space of time. (The cheque will be sent this week).
Our next event is coffee and lunch at my home in October. I am aware that these are only small parochial events but, if other devotees could arrange similar gatherings in their deaneries around the country, then think of the potential!!
I also have some volunteers who are willing to clean, sew etc., we just need to be told if and when we are needed.
I check the website most days so maybe it would be helpful to post what help, if any, is needed.
Thanking God for so many blessings.
