Born and bred in Bradford, I have recently taken early retirement as a partner in a local firm of Chartered Accountants after an association of more than 40 years. I am married to Jan, a primary school teacher; and we have two student children, Rachel and Andrew.

Rachel and Andrew have regarded Scargill as “home” since they have both visited regularly from just a few weeks old. I was a member of the Scragill House Ltd Council for about 20 years up to 2004.

Having been appointed as a PCC treasurer a year very young (in fact a year before I was old enough to be a member of the PCC), my ministry has continued to be in financial administration as chairman of Bradford Diocesan Board of Finance from 1982 to 2009 and latterly as chairman of the Audit Committee of the Archbishops’ Council.

As well as my financial background, I have had many years experience of working with young people through the Scout Movement and in the church.
