Here are some encouraging, thoughtful comments from people whose lives have been deeply touched by being part of the experience that Scargill offered for almost 50 years. These, and others, are ready to assist the next stage of the founding of The Scargill Movement. If you want to add a comment, you can fill in the feedback form or send an email message to feedback@scargillmovement.org. You could also join in with the Scargill Movement Blog

Hello to all involved with the Scargill Movement!
My name is Mark Knight, and I work with the 24-7 Prayer movement – www.24-7prayer.com A friend and visitor to Scargill House told me recently about what has been happening and the plans that are afoot to relaunch the community. From what he has told me, and what I've seen here on the website, Scargill House is destined among other things to become a place of prayer, community and action, just as it has been for years already.
You might have heard of 24-7 Prayer , and know that we're very much about communities that have just that heartbeat. I thought I'd get in touch, in part just to sound the 'hurrah' to what you're up to (!), but also because we are bringing some individuals, churches and organisations together on the 20th of June in Gateshead, and you'd be very welcome to join us.
I see that you already have a big event happening at Scargill on the same day, so perhaps it won't be possible. Whilst we'll be meeting during the day, there is also a larger celebration that evening. You can get details here:
http://www.breathe-ne.com/
You'd be welcome to come to that too. The backstory to holding an event up in Gateshead is that a small network of churches have been exploring rhythms of prayer for the past few years or so in the region, and we want to encourage what is happening there. If nothing else, I thought perhaps you might enjoy meeting some of these people, since I am sure they would love to find out more about what you are doing as well, and benefit from your wisdom.
You'd be welcome to join us for any of the above on the 20th, and we look forward to seeing how things develop at Scargill!
Look forward to hearing from you,
Mark Knight |

Attended the "closing" service of Scargill 16th June 2008, delighted with the rebirth. Not able to come on the 20th as it is 12 months ago that my nephew 22 from Skipton was killed 3 days before he graduated from Durham University. His picture was on the front page of the Craven Paper next to the details about Scargill closing!! June 27th 2008. I would like to become a New Scargill Partner, I have filled in the questionnaire, and a donation is on the way. Have a lovely day on Saturday, wish I was with everyone but will be in Durham Cathedral with the family. Best Wishes |

I'm thrilled to hear scargill has been saved. I attended a week long course here when i was 11 years old, it was one of the best weeks of my life, as it was a school trip and we sang every day and walked, it was my first holiday anywhere and I loved it. I hope you plan to do the same for more children again Dionne Saville |

Sending my love to Yorkshire. I was a member of the Scargill community from 1981-1982, at a deeply sad and difficult time for myself and my family. I cannot begin to put into words the gratitude I continue to feel towards the very special people I lived with during that year. If any of you are reading this, thank you. I am not in the least bit surprised or amazed at the progress that has been made towards restoring Scargill House to its former glory. The strength of the people, past and present, who have given a part of themselves to this unique place cannot be underestimated. I'd love to join a workparty if the chance arises, but getting there from Hampshire may take a little planning. Please let me know when help is needed; I still remember how to use the floor polishing machine! With all best wishes Judith |
