Directing a project involves establishing a number of pre-requisites before the project can truly be up and running. It's vital to know exactly what is required, together with well-considered budgets and timeframes. The Scargill Movement Council has established various groups which are working in parallel so that meeting the target of opening fully in late Summer 2010 remains realistic. Preparations are under way for a major fund-raising campaign, and a pre-cursor for this is agreement on the house style and logo that will be used on all the publicity material. A group is considering the shape and size of the resident community at Scargill House; this will inform the requirements for Community accommodation, some of which may be much closer to the main house than in the past. Others are developing the Business Plan and financial models, essential for a realistic appraisal of income and expenditure in the future. Initial scope for building works includes making almost half the available beds ensuite, as well as work on the dining area. A Youth Centre forms part of the plans, and this may be developed at a later stage. An Architect's Brief has been written, and the process of selecting an Architectural Practice is well under way. |
