October 15th

Autumn is with us in earnest, the colours changing on the trees at Scargill as elswhere. Work on the estate continues, volunteers very much to the fore, and Council and Advisers together with newly appointed architect, Adam Clark (of Halliday Clark) and Simon Browning, are working on developing the project for Scargill's future.

Adrian and Bridget Plass are now in residence, though finishing commitments before their 'set aside' time next year to Scargill's future.Phil Stone and his wife Dianne are preparing to leave their London parish to be at Scargill in the New Year.

'Market analysis' is still happening, and the shape of the new community and buildings is being planned.

Our prayers continue - with thanks for;

- the generosity of all who have given time and resources to bring us to this point;

-the donors of financial contributions large and small, including local fund-raising groups where events have be run to raise money for the reopening work.
-the people who have worked at the House, showing casual callers round, providing security, cleaning, washing and cooking.
-the volunteers who have mown grass, carted rubbish, cleaned and decorated the Cottage, and donated or loaned materials and tools as well as time to the tasks.

With confidence in the provision to do what tasks we are called to undertake we ask for;

-support for all those committing time and effort to work at Scargill. For protection in their personal lives

- upholding of Pauline Thompson and Simon Browning as they seek to manage the volunteers and the work that needs doing to maintain and to develop Scargill House and its Estate in preparation for reopening.
blessing on those able and called to volunteer in furthering the work needed at this time and in the next months, including the ongoing care-taking role.
-blessing on Bruce Duncan in his work to develop the financial base and support the Council in launching the Appeal for the Autumn, in particular the founding meeting for the Northern Funding Group.

-blessing on Adrian and Bridget settling in and establishing their new temporary home and the tasks to be accomplished there.

-blessing on Sarah and Penny in their Admin roles. Please pray for Sarah to be well.
