| Gathering on September 20th |
|
On September 20th over 150 people gathered to find out how things were going, close to a year on from the meeting that brought together the steering group which worked to negotiate the future of Scargill House as it was put on the market. The day began and ended with worship and the Word and there was an important session at which reports were made about the current position – Tony Hesselwood reported on the finances and the issues surrounding the matter of accountability for the new Trust, Stephen Weatherly outlined the business plan which was being constructed, Adam Halliday (architect) described the way in which he was approaching the redesign of the buildings, and there was information presented on behalf of Bruce Duncan on the approach to raising the money needed. There were questions and comments in the session, and lots more discussion over tea, before the final worship. There was a prevailing feeling that much has been achieved in this year, and therefore there is much to give thanks for. There is also much more to be done, it is hoped to publish versions of the material presented at the session on this site in due course, the Council greatly valued the opportunity to share the work that has been going on in the months since acquiring the house, and to receive encouragement from supporters. . |
