Letter from +Chris Edmondson, Chair of Council

On behalf of the Council I am delighted to announce the appointment of  the Rev.Phil Stone to be the new Director (Warden) of Scargill House.

Phil has been at St.Mark’s Kensal Rise, North London since 1997, and in addition has been Area Dean of Brent since 2003.  Phil is married to Diane, a teacher and former midwife, and they have four grown-up children.

Phil has led a church in a multi-cultural area that has seen significant growth over the last twelve years, and in a variety of contexts, is someone who has demonstrated pioneering leadership gifts.  This is particularly important as he and Diane will play a key role, along with the members of the Scargill Movement Council, in seeing that the new vision for Scargill’s ministry is fulfilled, over the coming years.

Phil’s experience of leading the Lee Abbey camps over the last 16 years, not only indicates his experience of, and commitment to working among young people, but is another reflection of the strengthening of renewed links with the Lee Abbey Movement.

The Stones plan to move to Scargill in January 2010, with a view to an ‘official’ start in February.   Meanwhile, please keep them and the people of St.Marks’s in your prayers, during this transition time.
